Iruru Girls BOM Teacher Arrested for Hacking Four School Bank Accounts

A Board of Management BOM teacher at Iruru Girls High School in Meru has been arrested for the hacking of over four school bank accounts.

Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI detectives arrested Mr Tobias Sifuna Mnangala in Ndaragwa in Nyandarua where he was hiding.

The 25-year-old teacher is said to have hacked the school portals of four schools before changing the payment details to his paybill account numbers.

List of Schools Hacked by Mr Sifuna

The schools hacked into include; Chuka Boys in Tharaka Nithi, Garissa High School, Kisumu Girls High School, and Nep Girls High School.

The investigations started after some Chuka Boys High School parents took to the DCI office in Tharaka Nithi to report the payment fraud. The parents claimed they had paid the fees for their form one students but the money never reflected in the official school accounts.

Teacher Defrauds Parents Over 300,000 Shillings

The DCI detectives said that Mr Tobias Sifuna Mnangala interfered with the school portal details to defraud parents over Ksh.300,000.

At the time of his arrest, Mr Sifuna was found with a laptop and some sim cards.

Before the arrest, Mr Sifuna was working at Iruru Girls High School as an ICT teacher under the BOM terms.

Information reaching education.co.ke confirms that Mr Sifuna has taught in several schools in Meru County.
