The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has designated nine premier secondary schools across the country as official marking centres for the 2026 Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA).

The announcement sets the stage for post-examination logistics as the country accelerates assessment processes under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The selected institutions, predominantly top national boarding schools, were picked based on their capacity to accommodate large cohorts of examiners and guarantee examination material security.

List of Designated KJSEA 2026 Marking Centres

According to official scheduling details released to education stakeholders, the designated marking venues by subject are:

  • Kiswahili (Paper 2): Moi Girls School Nairobi
  • Christian Religious Education (CRE): St. George’s Girls School Nairobi
  • Creative Arts and Sports: Alliance High School
  • English (Paper 2): Alliance High School
  • Pre-technical Studies: Pangani Girls High School
  • Social Studies: Maryhill Girls High School
  • Integrated Science: Isinya Girls Secondary School
  • Agriculture: Starehe Boys’ Centre
  • Mathematics: Mang’u High School

Alliance High School stands out on the roster by hosting two key disciplines: Creative Arts and Sports, alongside English Paper 2.

Logistics and Examiner Coordination

The council emphasized that infrastructure, secure storage, and proximity to national coordination hubs were critical parameters in determining the venues. Thousands of junior school teachers vetted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will report to these centres following the completion of the assessments.

Education officials noted that centralized marking safeguards examination integrity while expediting processing timelines. Additional guidelines regarding reporting dates, examiner travel allowances, and clearance protocols are accessible on teacher.co.ke.

Rigorous Security Measures Enforced

Strict security protocols will govern all nine centres. Access will be restricted exclusively to contracted personnel displaying biometric security clearance. KNEC maintains that centralized oversight ensures standardized scoring across all Competency-Based Education learning areas.
