KUPPET Warns Magoha Over KCSE 2019 Exams Release

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers KUPPET has warned the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha not to release the KCSE 2019 Examinations results in a hurry.

The National Chaiman of Kuppet Omboko Milemba said that CS Magoha should not use the hurried release of examinations as a way of setting examinations standards for performance

Prof Magoha to Squash Dr. Matiangi’s KCSE Marking Time Record

Omboko noted that it’s like Education CS Magoha is competing against his predecessor Dr. Matiangi.

“If Dr. Matiangi released the exams after 30 days, then Magoha has to release after 20 days to set a new record”, commented Kuppet National Chairman.

Omboko Milemba added that this trend, if followed, another Cs who will take over office will release examination results just after 10 days at the expense of quality of marking.

The Union’s National Chairman warned that exams are not like an athletic race where a record is set like the Ineos 1.59 like what Eliud Kipchoge did.

Milemba said that to mark and release the examinations results of over 6,000 KCSE candidates over such a short time will impound on the quality of marking and also over stretch and strain the KCSE examiners.

KCPE 2019 Examiners Were Just Giving Marks and Not Marking

The Chairman referenced the just concluded KCPE examination marking exercise where one examiner narrated through interview that they were only giving marks so that they could beat the timeline.

“Targeted timelines are replacing quality marking, the CS and KNEC CEO should listen ” lamented Milemba.

In the concluded KCPE 2019 results, there are reports that the exerminers worked under duress. And that many of the markers worked for long hours without rest.

The Teachers unions have expressed their worries to KNEC for the Council is concerned only on exams and not health of examiners.
