Sharon J. Kisire Appointed as Vice Chairperson of the Teachers Service Commission

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially named Sharon J. Kisire as its new Vice Chairperson. The appointment came into effect on May 21, 2026, and was communicated through an internal memo released on May 22, 2026. Kisire steps into the role previously held by Ms. Leila Ali Abdi, whose tenure has ended.

Kisire has been serving as a TSC Commissioner since September 6, 2021, playing a significant role in developing human resource policies for Kenya’s education sector.

Professional Experience

With more than 20 years of experience in organizational leadership and human resource management, Kisire brings a substantial background to her new position. Her professional history includes senior roles across multiple organizations, such as Safaricom, the Kenya Pipeline Company, the Kenya Wildlife Service, the National Oil Corporation, and the Mater Hospital.

Academic Qualifications

Academically, Kisire earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Kenyatta University, along with a Diploma in Human Resource Management. She is also recognized as a KASNEB Certified Secretary and a Certified Governance Auditor by the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS). These qualifications are anticipated to aid her in executing her administrative duties within the commission.
